As evidenced by Katie Couric, Sarah Palin is unable to name any Supreme Court Case other than Roe v. Wade. (She was also asked what newspapers or magazines she regularly reads. She couldn't or wouldn't name one.)

Texas v. Johnson (1989)
Now, most people know this as the Flag Burning Case; however, I think Justice Brennan rightly pointed out that there was more on the line than society's supposed abhorrence to desecrating the US Flag:
"If there is a bedrock principle underlying the First Amendment, it is that the government may not prohibit the expression of an idea simply because society finds the idea itself offensive or disagreeable. . . ."
