It wasn’t that Jayne didn’t like River.

Okay, Jayne didn’t like her, but it wasn’t as though he had anything against her personally.

No, that weren’t right either. It was because of her--and that pansy-ass brother of hers-- that him and his got on the Alliance radar in the first place. That made it personal.

It’s just…she bothered him. A lot.

Always staring, “borrowin’” things that don’t belong to her, and getting in his face every time he tried to find a little bit of peace and quiet. And the questions! Worse than Mattie as a toddler Moonie was, drivin’ him thismuchcloser to ape-shit with each word of every sentence he didn’t bother to understand.

Got so bad he snapped. Again. Snatched her up, dragged her scrawny little ass to the empty shuttle and set off to ditch her on an empty moon where’s she could talk to the trees and dance barefoot in the snow. Hell, if’n they were lucky, maybe even catch her death. Sure would save ‘em all a heap of trouble.

Only, sometime between takin’ off and getting’ anywhere, she ended up on his lap. All squirmy and sweet smellin’, skin so soft and damn near irresistible. Those nimble fingers diggin’ into his pants, grabbin’ hold of his jiba like she’d done had lessons from ‘Nara, workin’ it somethin’ fierce; with her mile-long legs wrapped around his waist, she rubbed up against him like a cat in heat tryin’ to get hers, too.

‘Fore he had a chance to process what happened River had control of the shuttle and was flying them back to Serenity, a smile on her face as she whistled a happy tune…

Disturbingly satisfied, Jayne fastened his pants and muttered, “Well, that didn’t go the way I planned it at all.”
