Clarity on the maintenance front...

So maintenance has been HARD!!!  Since making my goal 4 weeks ago, I have had 1 week when I was actually within 2 pounds of my goal!  I seriously had a "deep sigh" moment and allowed myself to relax way too much...There was so much stress released when I made goal & I am trying to find a balance somewhere amidst all of the freedom & losing weight mode.  When I "allow" myself to be a little more flexible with my eating, the fat girl inside me runs with it...and funs fast for a fat girl :)  I have been trying to keep up and pull on those reins...today I was 150.2...so I am getting there.

Yet when I weighed in this morning, I was SO disappointed (I was 0.2 away from being within the 2 pound range)...I was under the impression that on maintenance you have to be within 2 pounds of your goal every single week for 6 weeks and then you achieve lifetime status...and that if you were over one week, that would just push lifetime back one more week...so here I am...having ONE weigh-in actually being able to count out of the 4 weeks total...pretty pathetic, huh??  I was thinking that it would take me 12 weeks to do this "6 weeks of maintenance" thing...

Luckily Karen provided me with some much needed clarification!  Apparently you go through the 6 weeks like normal & the 6th week weigh-in is the clincher...if you are within 2 pounds of your goal on that 6th week, then you achieve livetime.  If not, we go to the next week...that's where I got confused initially...I thought it was within 2 pounds EVERY week!!  She said no...during maintenance your weight will fluctuate as you try and find that balance & what your body needs to maintain...so that's why you take the 6 weeks to figure it out and then if you are within 2 pounds of your goal at that time, you get lifetime...so BIG sigh of relief from me!  I thought I was going to have another million weeks to go since I have had the hardest time figuring out this maintenance thing!  But only 2 more weeks...Wow...pretty cool!
