5 recs from the 2019 Summer of Giles

summer_of_giles always gives us lovely stuff each year, and here are just a few that I loved this year. Of course, there are a lot more, so make sure you go check up the comm for the rest of this year's lovelies.

The Tyranny of Numbers by aadler is fascinating. It’s Giles, Dawn and set well post Chosen. To say much about it would give the game away, so I’m just going to go with the author’s summary - People change. Sometimes the changes don’t make sense. Sometimes they make … a kind of sense. Now go read and find out what’s going on.

It’s always nice to see something a bit different, and thewiggins gave us some free-form poetry detailing Rupert’s journey to Ripper. Go read The Worst Crowd That Would Have Him.

the shape of a thing itself by 23Murasaki is a five times fic. In this case it’s five times wasn’t quite home and one time he was. This is a lovely series of vignettes of Giles at different times of his life, and it’s well worth a read.

In The Visitor by quaggy, Quentin Travers visits a grieving Giles after Buffy’s death at the end of S5. This is a really interesting and different characterisation of Travers and quaggy makes it very plausible in the context of the story. I know thenewbuzwuzz has already recced this but I wanted to second the love.

il_mio_capitano’s Bad Habits is brilliant. Ethan has a talent for sniffing out mischief and in this case his nose takes him to a little pub in London. Guess who’s in the pub? There’s so much to enjoy here, so go read and have fun.
