5 BTVS things from 2017 I really enjoyed
I didn't think I'd get the chance to do another post, but that just shows what I know. Here are five more pieces of work from 2017 I really enjoyed.
Conditional Perfect by mycrookedheart is ‘five kisses in Xander’s life that didn’t happen, and one that did'. I thoroughly enjoyed this take on Xander, and the ‘one that did’ is very satisfying.
I finally got caught up with aadler’s Friends with the Monster which is a remix of dragonyphoenix’s Monster. Aadler took the kernel of the idea from that story and took it in a different direction with very interesting results. Xander had been horrified to discover something shocking about himself and has left the gang and is living in solitude when a very Sarah Connor-like Dawn comes across him while she’s demon hunting. To say she is angry with him is a slight understatement. I hadn’t read the original story, so came to this one cold and found the mechanics of it and the various reveals really interesting.
0_ruthless_0 did some really lovely Gilesian artwork. The backstories to both pieces just beg to be written.
The Girl in Question II by elisi is great fun. Angel gets a report that Buffy is living in a castle in Scotland which is obviously ridiculous and even more obviously a trap, so the AtS team go to check it out.
And finally, here’s a lovely vid from gilescandy - it’s Giles/Willow and has a lovely dark edge We Belong
