Top 5 Slashy 2-person RPGs/Tag-Fic of 2005
Ok, so some of these are total WTF pairings for me, personally, but RPGs can be incredibly addictive even for non-participants and the quality writing and/or crafty story lines herein so completely sucked me in that I found myself checking daily for updates.
Note: these are all, pretty much, rated Adult
1. Dinner Date by sweptawaybayou (as Angel) & entrenous88 (as Xander)
So what if my OTP is Xangel *g*, checking the tags on this RPG made my spring happy ;-). Plus, the premise is one of my favourite plot devices ever... a spell gone wrong! Even though this rpg wasn't 'technically' started this year, most of the entries were made in 2005, so I figured it could slide in under the radar.
2. Fallen Watchers by lostgirlslair (as Giles) & theferretgirl (as Wesley)
This RPG was started in the latter part of 2004 too, but it's been going strong all year long and when I say strong, I mean the writers update regularly (several times daily, even now), the characterizations are spot on, the sex is hot and the plot is just totally engrossing. If you've never read any Wesley/Giles in your life, this fic will make you a true believer. How can you go wrong with the interraction with the scoobies, the fang gang, Giles AND Wyndham-Pryce families, the watchers council, daily fights against evil, international travel, marriage, Conner as their quasi-foster son, a live-in family of demons, everyday life in Sunnydale and SO much more?
3. Traveling Blind by sangpassionne (as Adam Baldwin) & evilmaniclaugh (as James Marsters)
This RPG is finished and it reads like a story. It also comes with warnings for pretty hard-core sex, drugs and violence. James is a junkie-hooker that Adam, who's some sort of international mercenary, rescued from the gutter. See them try to make a life together. This kind of thing isn't for everyone (especially the faint of heart) and, quite frankly, I didn't even think it was for me until I checked it out on a lark and discovered how well-written and richly imagined it was.
4. Upon the Ashes by beadtific & lostgirlslair (Giles/Wesley & Angel/Spike)
This is the second part of a tag-fic that starts with the story Aftermath. The premise is that Angel and Spike survived NFA and that Wesley didn't but has somehow been reanimated and they're all being nursed to health at the Council's new headquarters. Somewhere along the way, Wesley and Giles start a relationship and Angel and Spike, their respective best friends, are also flirting around with their own relationship while helping train new slayers and trying to figure out why Wesley's back from the dead.
5. Books & Boots by killerweasel (as Lindsey) & theferretgirl (as Wesley)
Wesley and Lindsey post the whole Conner debacle. Not a usual pairing of mine, but I find that I really like the way the players are handling their characters' angsty insecurities as well as the storylines including the McDonald Clan and Wesley's recuperation from his physical injuries. It also doesn't hurt that the sex is really smokin too ;-)
