I will say that if you adore Twilight and will hear nothing against it, you probably ought to pass up these recs, though I feel they are more humorous than biting....

Vampires and the Women Who Love Them, Part One and
Part TwoAuthor:
st_salieriRating: Worksafe
Why I Chose This: Using a clever television talk show transcript format,
st_salieri brings readers a completely hilarious discussion between Buffy Summers, Sookie Stackhouse (from the Dead After Dark series by Charlaine Harrison, on which HBO's True Blood was loosely based), and Bella Swan (of Twilight notoriety).
The ladies' voices and views are completely in character, and the entire piece is just so delightful that I literally laughed out loud. I may even have snorted a time or two from laughing too hard, particularly when I read what the "next segment" on the talk show was going to cover....
In part two, continuing with the talk show transcript format, hostess Amy Anderson's "audience" gets to hear from Spike, Bill Compton, and Edward Cullen.
The three types of vampires from the three canons are reconciled in an intelligent and amusing way, and Spike is irresistibly himself, as are both Bill and Edward. Characterization is beautifully done on all three counts, and of course our Buffyverse vampire emerges supreme, albeit in an entirely unexpected manner. It's another laugh-out-loud piece, and there could have been snortage for this "episode" as well....

Buffy vs. Edward, Twilight Remixed (YouTube link)
Creator: Jonathan McIntosh
Rating: Worksafe, but PG-13 for violence and Buffy's calling
Why I Chose This: Using clever cutting, McIntosh has Edward Cullen attending Sunnydale High and stalking Slayer Buffy Summers instead of Introvert Bella Swan, with extremely enjoyable results. It's another piece that made me laugh out loud, and which I saved in my own memories and posts so that I could watch it over and over again. (If you'd rather not leave LJ to watch it, go
here.)

Buffy vs. Twilight,
Buffy vs. Twilight 2, and
Edward vs. Spike (all DeviantArt links)
Artist: JarJarrr
Rating: PG-13 for, um, comic strip blood? and also smoking, drinking, and fire.
Why I Chose These: Let's face it, the parallels and differences in the Buffy/Angel and Bella/Edward dynamics are just fun to discuss, break apart, recreate, rewrite, fold, spindle, and mutilate. JarJarr runs in an over-the-top visual direction in the first two pieces, and lets Spike have his say in the third. Brooding is only cute for so long, after all....
