Five Reasons We're Lucky to have Moscow Watcher
1. Her rec lists! Moscow is a voracious reader who searches fandom for entertaining fanfic and brings back the spoils to share with us all. (She's also a die-hard commenter and aren't we lucky to have her feedback, writers?) Here are her Summer and Fall Fic Rec lists for 2009. She's been doing these for a few years now so be sure and check out the older lists too!
After years of reading and sharing recs of the fic she's enjoyed, Moscow finally conquered the English language and started writing fanfic to share with us English-speaking folk (she's been writing Buffyverse fanfic in Russian for many years). She doesn't merely write stories with fascinating plot twists - she writes layered meta wrapped up in wonderful characterization and laugh-so-hard-you-might-die hilarity. Her humor, insight and brilliant mind are on display in all their glory in these two seasonal_spuffy installments that explore magic and memories:
2. She Will Remember Him? - As we know, in summer of 2000 monks had rewritten everybody's memories. What do characters remember about the events of season 2 now?
3. Tabula Not Rasa - Xander hasn't stepped on the memory-wiping crystal, so Willow had to find another way to restore their memories. All their memories. Post-Tabula Rasa.
The next story is a personal favorite of mine. I don't think I've truly voiced how impressed I am with how Moscow took an AU idea and created a mystery of Season 5 where Faith is pregnant with the Key and Xander is left wondering how the hell he became the hero of the piece. Two beloved characters become leads in this season-long tale filled with angst, betrayal, desperation and the true test of an individual's humanity: how far would you go to protect your child?
4. Black Magic, White Lies - Xander thinks he has a little secret. He doesn't know that his little secret is a part of a big fat conspiracy.
5. Her icons! Moscow creates some of the most hilarious and poignant icons and guess what? They're animated! Many of them can be found at fantas_magoria but I'm holding out hope she'll do a wrap-up post soon. Here are a few offerings I've collected of her work.
