School shopping.

After the oddly quiet car journey, I wondered what was on Dawn's mind, especially since she had started off so bubbly this morning.

I'm sure the whole "back to school" thing isn't cheering her up much at all, but there's something else, I'm sure. Perhaps it was Buffy embarking on life's next great adventure and me promising that we'd help her settle in if she needs us. I don't know if Dawn understands that it's a big change, and it'll mean having to pay less attention to her for a while, but I'm sure once Buffy is settled, Dawn will be back to her old self.

Despite this, and as much as I loved both my girls, Dawn always seemed to be the most fickle, demanding attention one moment then resenting the fact that you were there the next. Hopefully now that Buffy isn't home, I'll get the chance to give my full attention to Dawn's needs. The gallery has been busy, but with Janine helping out, I'm sure I'll be there whenever Dawn needs a hand. Perhaps taking on another staff member wouldn't hurt either.

We headed across the carpark towards the mall in silence, but it wasn't one of those comfortable silences. I could tell that something was on Dawn's mind, but how to bring it up?

"Well, where first? Once we're done school-shopping, did you want to stop somewhere for food or milkshakes?"

(open for Dawn)
