First, I was excited about the movie, which I went to see in the theater (and didn't think was nearly as bad as people seem to now, not great, certainly, but I'd seen much worse). Then I heard that it was going to be a series, but I had no idea when it was going to be on.
One Saturday afternoon I was flipping through the stations and caught "The Witch." No idea why it was on at that time, but it's likely it was preempted for a basketball game (the local station used to show them a lot back in the day), and the rest is history. I found it when it aired and I watched ever since.
It's strange reading about people's views on BtVS, because watching a show on DVD only is a much different experience than watching it year to year, week to week. Since then I've seen them all again, of course, on DVD, but still, no one seems to remember (or maybe just not want to mention) the fact that many of the fans were thinking it was time to put a stake through that show's heart, though OMWF bought an awful lot of goodwill with us all.
ETA: Sorry, forgot to say HI BECKY!!!! (^_^) Great that you're here.
Initially watching the series on the DVDS is totally different then as it aired, agreed. I watched the entire series initally in a span of about 5 months. I was working 3 jobs at the time, and didn't have much free time, or I'd have finished it sooner. Buffy was my refuge from life. All day I looked forward to coming home and watching an episode or two before bed.
