In the end it's because it's stories about human beings. It's not really about vampires, space cowboys or arch villans and programable dolls. It's about people. That's why I forgive some of the story lines or some of the agenda because it's persenting people. Even Season 8 (which I found much better on closer examination and learning comic book form) -- in the end it's about people. Can Faith ever be normal? Does she really want to be? It's been said that we need heroes to show us what's possible and all of Joss' works give us flawed heroes who do amazing good. Willow is selfish at times, petty at others. Buffy pushes people away. Angel killed people. Dr. Horrible is (well lets face it) evil lite. Mal and his crew have a mess of hangups and screwups. They're all just folk, who wind up doing good. We need those stories. We need to know that there might be evil in us, or at least failure in us, but we can.. in the end, do good.. get through this hell we call life and.. occasionally if you look very hard, it won't suck.
