Ever since I saw BBM I can´t get the idea of traveling there out of mind and fortunately I have a friend who will tag along on my crazy adventures, if everything goes according to plan, the two of us will travel North America for the last week of June and the two first of July. And we even have an initiary set, one that will change over time I´m sure. But still, we have ourselves a plan!
As usual my brain has gone into overdrive and I have a whole stack of maps and notes gathered from browsing different travel websites, mainly
www.findingbrokeback.com (I´m so impressed with this site. It contains just about everything that you need to know about visiting the BBM locations). My initial plan was to do BBM locations only, but since then the initiary has expanded somewhat.
Here´s the Initiary for the 2008 Stampede
Our plan is to travel by coach from LA - San Fransisco - Seattle - Vancouver - Calgary. Rent a car in Calgary to be able to reach selected BBM shoting locations mainly S and SE of Calgary including the Kananaskis National Park (for Basque Bridge and "I did once" lake), Fort MacLoud (for Laundry apartment, Elk´s Lodge), and various barely-there towns such as Cowley (for Signal drop off, Ennis´alley, Goodbye) and Rockyford (Riverton post office, JT´s bar)
Then coach again from Calgary - White Horse (Yukon) - Fairbanks (Alaska).
I thought we could travel by train to Alaska but since then I´ve learned that you can´t reach Alaska by train at all, car, coach or air being the only options. And since driving all that way isn´t all that appealing and flying isn´t possible on our budget, we have no other choice than to do the 2 days long busride.
After a few days in Alaska, we head back Calgary and fly back home to Sweden (unless of course we get lost somewhere along the way or if I find Ennis swimming in some mountain lake)
