New Year's Eve or Hogmanay

We went to the beach with David's family for 4 days for New Year. It was relaxing and calm with no TV and no Phone. Still, we managed to make our own fun. Shortly after New Year David and I went out onto our back veranda to look at the stars. We were both a bit puggled, if you know what I mean. There was lots of kisses. I joked to David that this was the perfect time to propose and I would even empty my hand of any rings so he could do so unimpeded. Needless to say, when he got down on one knee, I thought he was carrying the joke too far. I don't need reminded that we are still traveling and not ready for a wedding. Only when he pulled out the platinum diamond ring and said "Will you marry me?" did I realize that the joke was over. He really was proposing!

I kissed him as he fumbled to put the ring on my finger. He looked at me and said 'is that a yes then?' 'YES!!'

We went back in the house, still not sure how to tell his folks. In the end I said 'Take a photo of us' and David's Mum said 'well look at that rock!' and it was all out in the open. Lots of kisses all round and more wine and even a few pictures, but sadly, most of them are blurry, since we were all pished. The night was full of joy and family, just the way I'd hope my engagement to be.

Happy New Year. xxx
