Sleepy Weekend

Dec 05, 2010 23:15

Friday I got home pretty early because I'd worked so many hours earlier in the week and had to make up time (no overtime allowed). I utilized the extra time to get some of my usual weekend chores out of the way (laundry, checkbook balancing, etc), gave the dog a bath, finally got my e-pass activated (it's a device for prepaying tolls. I couldn't get the website to let me set up an account and the offices are only open Monday - Friday, so I'd had this thing for months but never activated it because either I didn't have the $10 required minimum balance or the offices were closed), and then Casey was ready to be picked up from school (she stayed to watch a wrestling match and hang out with her friends for a bit), so I got her and then made Shake N Bake chicken for dinner. After dinner I took a nap because I'd been up since 5:30 and planned to be out late, and I'm old and tired, LOL.

Later we both left for our separate Friday night plans - she went to Celebration with some friends for a little festival thing where they make it snow (with what appears to actually be some sort of soap, but looks pretty good in the sky) and I went to Renee's house so we could go to a gay club called Pulse. We were also joined by Renee's daughter (who is 21 now, which is nuts because I've known her since she was 12), some of her friends, and Beth. Actually, Renee's daughter and her friends are regulars at this place and had been trying to get her to join them there for a long time. I'd never been either and it was pretty fun. They had guys in speedos dancing on the bar, so what's not to like? Plus I got to dance, which I hadn't had a chance to do in a while, and they had a pretty good drag show. I didn't get home until around 2 AM.

Saturday morning I dropped Casey off at the church so she could leave on a retreat (a really cool one that involved paint ball, scavenger hunts, canoeing, etc. all done in a way to teach them about Advent), and then I went to Kohl's and used a $10 gift card they'd mailed me and a 15% off coupon I'd gotten in my email to get some wrapping paper, a Christmas gift for my parents (mousepad that says "Grandkids" with 4 slots for pictures. I'm going to put Casey, my dog and my brother's 2 dogs in there, ha ha) and an ornament for a party I was planning to go to that night (they have a tradition that guests bring an ornament and get one in return. I never made it to the party though. I'll get to that later), all for about $2.

So when I got home I started decorating the house for Christmas, but as time went on I kept getting more and more dizzy. Eventually I had to stop. For one thing I knew getting on a ladder would be a bad idea. I took a nap, hoping it would help, but it didn't. And then I had to get ready for the party, but I was worried about standing in the shower so I took a bath instead, and then as I was getting dressed, the room started spinning and I decided driving would also be a bad idea so I texted Charles that I wouldn't be able to make it So disappointing, I'd really been looking forward to it. I ended up going to sleep at 8:30 because I could not keep my eyes open, and then I slept for 12 hours.

Today I feel a lot better, but still kind of out of sorts (and ended up needing a nap, even after all that sleep the night before), so after church and lunch at Steak N Shake with my parents, I went to Publix for a few things and used the blood pressure machine there. It said 141 over something, which is apparently pretty high. So I don't know what's going on. I never have high blood pressure. I'm going to stop at the clinic at work tomorrow on my way in and have them check it, and I'm overdue for a check up so I'll make an appointment for that soon as well. Maybe being overweight is finally catching up to me.

Anyway, I did manage to finish decorating the house, just slowly and made sure I took it easy on myself. One set of lights wasn't working, so after I get paid (I'm flat broke until Friday) I'm going to buy more and put them up.

So I picked Casey up when she got back from her retreat at 5, and then we went to my parents' house so she could use some software they have on their computer to make invitations for a holiday party her step-mom is throwing for her and her friends Saturday. But then the software wasn't working and she ended up just using Word, but they came out nice anyway. We came home and she finished her homework and then wanted to go see her friend Alejo, so I dropped her off there. She just got home (20 minutes after curfew, tch tch tch) and went to bed. I think I need to do the same. Night.
