Today is the birthday of the Marine Corp, so at work they had a flag raising ceremony, and I sang the National Anthem with Debbie, Sharon, Marie, Yvette, Sylvia and Kathleen, better known as U-Sings, the name we (I) came up with for our little singing group. Our whole department came out to watch, which I thought was very sweet. Tomorrow, for Veteran's Day, they are having a parade and luncheon and we'll be singing a few songs there as well. And I have a feeling Christmas caroling will be happening in the near future. Fun.
This afternoon Casey and I went to the dentist for routine check ups and cleanings. It's a new dentist, I'd switched when I became convinced that the old one was ripping me off, and it turns out my concerns were not unfounded. They had told me I had 2 cavities, which would cost $40 each to repair (after insurance), and that I also had gum disease and needed special $60 cleanings every 3 months. New dentist told me that was a bunch of bunk, I have no cavities and my gums are fine. Seriously, who makes up cavities? And I had already let those motherfuckers drill 2 "cavities" in the past that may or may not have actually existed, and had a few of those pricey deep cleanings too. I'm just glad I found a legitimate dentist, and the people are really nice, it's closer, and it was just an all around way better experience for both of us today. I went in expecting the worst and it was a total piece of cake, financially (free, insurance covered everything) and otherwise. Whew.
