Wanna Lei Ya

It's Asian Pacific Heritage month at work right now, and they are offering a series of classes in honor of that. I've signed up for all but one, and that's only because there are 2 on the same day and I can only take so many lunch breaks. I'm missing out on Tae Kwon Do, but there will be Bollywood, Rhythm Yoga, ARNIS (self defense), an info session about Universal Singapore, and today there was a lei making class. It was mostly kind of lame. The lesson could be summed up with "you thread stuff on a string, the end, now you do it". And when she was demonstrating she was using beautiful purple and yellow flowers (fake, but still pretty), leaves, etc. And then when I went up to get my materials they were like "Oh no, those are her flowers. You use those." and pointed to these flower shapes that were cut out of some sort of foam substance. Basically just a step above kindergartners cutting flowers out of paper with their safety scissors. Lame. But, hey... there was free lunch (subs, chips and fortune cookies), it was right next door to my building, I did something other than read during my break (I love to read, but different is good sometimes, you know?), and even if you're using lame foam flowers, making stuff is kind of fun.

Casey had left for camp by the time I got home from work tonight. I won't see her until Mother's Day morning. Cheers to another weekend of me time (holding up my glass of white zin).

P.S. This icon because Sylar looks like he should be wearing a lei. BRB, I'm gonna make him one out of paper clips.
