Thursday Debbie, Amy and I had our consultation at the gym. There was no actual work out involved like we'd expected... we just sat down with a trainer and he gave us some ideas on how to develop a work out routine, what our heart rates should be, how to eat right, etc. They asked a zillion questions, I got bored and he looked at his watch a lot. Heh. And then when we were done we hopped on the machines for a bit. I stopped back at work on the way home to pick up my turkey (they give us one every year for the holidays. This year the lines have been horrible... Amy waited 40 minutes earlier that day, so I figured going back at 7:00 would be better, and it was... 15 minute wait). Dropped it off in my parents' freezer (no room in mine, plus my mom always cooks it on Christmas day) and finally headed home. We're going back to the gym on Tuesday, and then the following week we'll be taking one of their classes, I think we're starting with an upper body one or something. Cool.
Friday morning I took Willow to the vet for her shots and check up. All is well, except I'm $76 poorer. I kind of expected it to cost more though, so whatever. I like this particular vet and will probably start asking for her in the future. She doesn't try to pressure me into spending more money ("I'm going to give her these meds and this shot, and let's do this test and bla bla bla..."). For my future reference, it's Dr. Mingle. When I went to drop Willow off at home Casey had just missed the bus to school, so I dropped her off and headed to work.
On my lunch break I went out into the park to buy some Christmas presents. We get 50% off merchandise during the holidays, and I need to bring gifts for the kids when we go to North Carolina on Wednesday. I got my cousin's 1 year old baby Madyson a teddy bear that rattles and a Maggie Simpson sippy cup, my 7 yo cousin Lily a teddy bear wearing a spongebob hat and backpack and a Spongebob sticker book and cookie that you can color with these edible markers. And for my 14 yo cousin Nathan, a Rockin Roller Coaster hat and a t-shirt with Bart Simpson on it that says "I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove anything", which is appropriate for him. My co-workers all thought I'd done great, but Casey crapped on every single gift I showed her. Whatever, I think she was just in sarcastic teen mode. She was saying wow a lot. And not in a sincere way. LOL, brat.
Last night we went with a group to see New Moon. Casey and several of her friends sat together in the very last row and I sat further up with June, Christine, April and Jeff. Jeff was probably the only one who didn't drool over the topless were-boys. They are worth the price of admission alone, that's for sure. How is Taylor Lautner only 17 and looks like that? It goes against the laws of nature or something. As for the movie, it was extremely teen angsty, but I knew that because I'd read the book. The next two will be better. This one was more of a catalyst to move the story along, so not a lot really happens. But it was a pretty good adaptation of an okay book. And there were definitely funny moments. Jessica is hilarious... really, all her friends are (you know, the human ones she treats like crap and takes for granted)? Charlie is adorably awkward. And I'm always a big fan of Jacob, even without those beautiful abs of his. (shakes head) Woah. Cougar moment. Ha.
