My (Forced) Day Off

Nov 11, 2009 19:05

It's been nice. Not long enough, but then again since it's an extra day off I didn't really feel obligated to be super productive. So I had a lazy morning, and then finally took a shower and headed out. Stopped at Casey's doctor's office to pick up the new patient paperwork so I could have it filled out before her appointment and then went to Walmart for a few odds and ends. Got the sneakers and work shoes I desperately needed (my current work shoes literally have holes in the bottom, and I was also looking for shoes that are good to wear with shorts, like Keds. I have some sneakers, but they are the big clunky kind you would normally wear with jeans or something). $10 a pair and they will probably fall apart pretty quickly, but whatever. They'll do for now.

Went home, filled out the aforementioned paperwork and then took Willow for a nice long walk (it was gorgeous today, high around 80). Then I had to head back out to pick Casey up from school and take her to the doctor. This is a new family doctor I switched her to when she decided she was too old for her pediatrician. We were pretty impressed overall, but this is kind of odd... she has a large white poodle who wanders around the office while she's working. She actually brought her in to meet us. I was torn between thinking "Yay doggie!" and "Um... that's pretty unsanitary, and what about people who are allergic to or afraid of dogs?" The doctor and everyone else we dealt with (receptionist and nurse, it's a very small office and I think it might just be the three of them) was super nice and laid back. In fact the doctor was walking around in a t-shirt and no lab coat. I kind of liked the carefree coolness about her, and I'm considering switching over myself since, you know, my doctor tried to make me bald with his fancy diet pills. We were there because Casey had a wart on her leg she wanted to get rid of, so she froze it and sent us on our way. Hopefully that will take care of it.

So then we went to see my brother so I could get a hair cut and Casey could get her eyebrows waxed, and I brought up this eccentric new doctor and her dog and he was like "Dr. Ramsay. Yeah, she's insane." Turns out that's his doctor too, but he's thinking about switching because he doesn't really like her. He thinks it's ridiculous that she keeps the dog in the office and says she can be pretty blunt too. She will just tell you exactly what she thinks and I guess sometimes it's been a bit too much for him. So we'll see, but so far Casey and I both like her.

So then we went home, I made dinner and put away dishes, and then some boys showed up at the house to harrass Casey. She acted all annoyed at first but then went outside to hang with them. Of course, LOL. I knew she actually wanted to see them when she offered to take the dog out for me (GASP. Unheard of. Just needed an excuse to go out there I suppose.) And then I took her to youth group, where she will remain until 8:30.

Back to work tomorrow. Wee.
