Weekend

Saturday Casey and I went to Disney with my friend Mike and her friend Bailey. We had a great time, but it was exhausting. We were there for 12 hours and did all 4 parks. EPCOT was fairly busy because they've got the food and wine festival going on, but the other parks were nice and quiet... we barely waited in line for anything.

We rarely ride Spaceship Earth (the big ball at EPCOT), but I'd heard they renovated it and wanted to see what changes had been made so we went on it. They added a cute Jib-Jab like video to the end of the ride... they take your picture and then you answer some questions and they show you a little cartoon of what your life could be like in the future. Then after you get off the ride you can email the video to yourself. I did that, but haven't gotten the email. Anyway, it was cute, but they got rid of a lot of good stuff. They basically talk about the past up to around the 70s and then show that video and that's it. They used to have little scenes of what the future might be like, and they cut all that out. Weird. I think they just made it worse.

It started to rain at around 9 PM, when we were at Magic Kingdom. It had been horribly humid up to that point, so we were so hot and sweaty we didn't even mind getting rained on. I mean seriously, you'd walk out of a ride or something and the air would just hit you, like you had stepped into a sauna. It was gross. So we walked in the rain to Thunder Mountain Railroad. Riding a roller coaster in the rain is really cool, but we also just happened to get on when the fireworks were going off, making it that much more intense. It was amazing, and when we got back into the station the employees asked if we wanted to ride again and every single person on the ride stayed on for a second time. Some stayed for a third, but by then we were soaked to the bone and decided to move on. We froze our butts off in the A/C at Haunted Mansion and joked about all getting pneumonia before the day was over. Headed out shortly after that because the park was closing soon anyway and I was really tired and wanted to get out of my wet clothes. We got home at around 11:30.

Today we went to 10:30 mass and then Dennys with my parents. Casey spent most of the afternoon/evening at her friend Brandon's house. I had planned to meet his mom when I dropped her off there (I'd met his dad before) but when we pulled up, Brandon and his friend were already outside and they had a skateboard ramp in the driveway and I was like "Eh, whatever" and just dropped her off and went home. Well, then Brandon's mom called me. I'm assuming they'd told her I wanted to meet her. And then when I went to pick Casey up, I went inside to say hi and she was like "Have a seat!" and we talked for a few minutes. They are both very nice people. It's so rare for parents to take such an interest in their kid's friends. And I include myself in that, because I'm certainly not inviting parents to come chat with me! So I like that she's paying attention and everything. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about is that they took the kids to the movies (which she cleared with me first) and let them go see Pandorum while they saw something else. So, first of all, that's rated R, and second, I'm not loving the idea of my 13 year old daughter by herself in a dark movie theater with a 14 year old boy! When I asked Casey about it she just said it was awkward. This is the boy that likes her and she just likes him as a friend, or so she says. And I reminded her that she is not to see anymore rated R movies without clearing it with me first.

Anyway, I'll probably be hitting the bed earlier than usual tonight. I'm still worn out from Disney, and of course there's work tomorrow.
