Casey and I finally got to see Harry Potter tonight, with one of her friends and 4 of mine (April, Jeff, Rose and Christine). We had been waiting for the IMAX 3D version to come out. And WOW at that 3D. I don't remember ever seeing 3D look so good. Too bad it's only during the first 20 minutes or so. Anyway, I really liked the movie. Visually it's absolutely gorgeous, and there are a lot of really funny moments, plus I enjoyed the rapport between the kids this time. I know Harry was a bit cockier than he has been in the past, but I don't know, he's a normal teenage boy, and I think he was still true to the character.
I know most people who read the book are pissed off at the changes that were made, but nah. Granted, I only remember the first half because that's how far I managed to re-read and I had completely forgotten the rest of the book (except THAT part. You know. That THING that happens), and yeah they made some changes in the beginning that were pretty annoying, but I told myself to stop worrying about it, sit back and enjoy it. And I really did.
They do such a great job with casting. Young Tom Riddle was the perfect blend of handsome and creepy. Loved crazy Lavender. Always loved Luna. And Mr. Radcliffe is sure growing into quite the hottie.
In work news, I and 2 other people were treated to lunch today by a finance manager we have helped out on occasion with various things. The plan was to go to Fridays, but she decided to change it and take us to a Thai place. I'd never had Thai before, but it seems to be pretty similar to Chinese, which I like. I didn't love my sweet n sour chicken, but I tried Laura's Pad Thai and it was pretty good.
Casey's off to Key West tomorrow. I'm looking forward to another peaceful week. Pretty soon school will be starting back, and with it all her activities, and we'll be back to running around like mad. Got to enjoy just coming home from work and relaxing while I can.
