Busy Friday

Jul 10, 2009 20:00

I spent around 6 hours counting tickets at work today (good times) and then left at 2:30, grabbing Slimfast from the fridge on my way out because I hadn't gotten around to eating lunch (couldn't really leave my sorted piles of tickets on the desk, plus I wasn't really hungry). Got my 2nd internal ultrasound and was told my endometrium wall looks much thinner than last time. DUH. Last time I went in an hour after starting my period (the thickest it's ever going to get... that wall is what you shed once a month) and this time one had just ended. But I guess it was alarmingly thick last time. She said "It's at .4 right now. Last time it was 28!" I don't know what measurement she's using, but that does sound like a drastic change. Hopefully the hormones I took helped. We'll see what the doctor has to say when he looks at the results.

So then I had to get Casey to her check up. I went straight from my doctor's office to the school/summer camp, thinking I'd probably arrive around the same time as my dad and I could ask him to take the other girls home and I'd grab Casey and take her to the doctor. Well, they got out earlier than I'd expected and he'd already picked them all up and left. There was a terrible storm going on at the time (I could feel the vibrations from the thunder), so I didn't want to call my dad while he was driving and instead called Casey, telling her to ask grandpa to meet me at her pediatrician's office with her after he dropped everyone else off. He dropped her off right on time for her appointment. As usual, they had us waiting forever and we didn't get out of there until 1 1/2 hours later. I'm going to find her a new doctor, not just because they are slow, but she feels too old for the pediatrician. She's over the babies in the waiting room and the furry animals on the walls. My doctor only sees adults, so I'll have to find her another one.

The doctor gave her the usual speech about eating her veggies, getting enough sleep, etc. and then threw in advice not to engage in sexual activity, drugs or alcohol. I found this amusing at first, and then realized that yeah, she's 13. That's not so crazy these days.

Speaking of... this morning when I was headed in to work, I saw 2 girls walk by and wondered what they were doing there. The only kids allowed on property are the ones attending the high school (we have one there for troubled kids, though I don't know exactly what defines troubled here... they attend high school in the morning and work in the park in the afternoons). I thought "Those girls don't look old enough to be in high school. They look maybe a year older than Casey". And then it occurred to me that Casey WILL be in high school next year. DOH. Sometimes it surprises me how old I am.

Anyway, after being at the doctor so long we had to rush home for her to get ready and then I took her to open gym. She was pretty psyched to go back after so long and see everyone, and I was psyched that the owner didn't make me pay because I apprently have a credit from when she took classes there before. Came home to find my DVR was frozen. Had to call the cable company, but it's working now. Don't want to watch TV anyway. Wanna get caught up on Facebook (I came here to get caught up and there were exactly 2 new posts since I was on last night. WTF ghost town?). Nyah.
