Whirlwind Weekend

Apr 26, 2009 22:32

Saturday: I woke up at 8:30 but stayed in bed with the laptop until 11 (gotta love Saturday mornings), going through my emails, putting together a to do list for the day, etc. Finally got up, took a shower, woke Casey up, threw some sheets in the wash, put away some dishes and did some other random things.

Then I took Casey to my brother's shop so he could wax her eyebrows. He had a very busy schedule that day and was fitting us into a very small window between clients, so we had to be there right on time. But of course, Casey took forever getting ready. I woke her up at 11:15 and she wasn't ready to leave until 12:30. And she didn't even take a shower because she'd done that the night before. WTF? We got there about a minute late, but I hadn't had time to stop for cash so I left her there and ran to the 7-11 next door. I had to give money to George for the shampoo and conditioner he'd gotten us and also for the gift certificate we went in on together for my dad's birthday.

Anyway, I got back in time to witness the waxing, and it went fine. She was very brave, although when we got in the car she said "That REALLY hurt!" Still, she wants to keep getting it done regularly. Guess I probably should be doing that too.

After that I dropped her off at Claire's so she could pick out a present for the birthday party she was going to, and while she was there I went to CVS and picked out a card for her and 2 for my dad as well. Picked her back up, went home to wrap the gift and mapquest directions, and then I dropped her off at the campout/pool/birthday party. Came back home and started sorting the laundry.

So much laundry. Casey tends to throw her clothes all over the floor in her room. There is a hamper in there, and it sits empty, surrounded by clothes. Makes no sense to me. The rule is, I only wash what's in that hamper. I usually warn her when I'm getting ready to do laundry, and then she'll throw a few things in there (probably only what she wants to wear that week). Well, since she wasn't home for me to warn her, I decided to be nice and wash everything. The amount of clothing on that floor was unbelievable. I'm still working on washing it. I think part of it was clothes she was supposed to put away that had fallen off the chair they were hanging on. So I really need to be tougher on her about putting away her clothes and using the hamper.

A few other random chores later, I headed out to meet up with Jean, Beth, Renee, Julie, April, Rose, Trizonna and Yvonne (I think that was her name, it was my first time meeting her) at The Bead Lounge, where I made the bracelet I posted a picture of yesterday. It was pretty nice... we had the whole place to ourselves, because I guess for parties of a certain size they'll open after hours. We all brought food and Jean brought wine, so we enjoyed hanging out for a while. The process was pretty confusing though, and the lady working there was not helpful. But I just went around grabbing beads I thought were pretty and eventually figured out what I wanted to do.

I got home at around 9, kept up with the laundry, planned my grocery list, and watched TV until around midnight.

Sunday: Went to church with my parents, and then to Panera Bread for breakfast. My dad and I are not fans of the place, but my mom likes it so we decided to be nice and go there for once. I didn't have long before I had to hurry out of there to go pick Casey up from her sleepover, and then I dropped her off at home with instructions to get in the shower, went and got groceries, then back home just long enough to put them away and grab Casey, and we headed to the Orlando Repertory Theater for our volunteer shift. Danielle was there too, this time with her father (Doug) instead of Christine, as it was his weekend with her. Doug and I were in charge of helping people find their seats while the girls took tickets and handed out programs. Easy peasy. And we got to see the show, which was Holes. It was pretty good. Doug and I were on hole guarding duty during intermission and after the show, standing in front of them to make sure nobody fell in. Ha.

As soon as the show was over, we took off again, heading straight to my parents house, where we all piled into their van and headed to Lakeland (about an hour away) to have my dad's birthday dinner at the steakhouse my brother's boyfriend works at. In fact, he was our waiter. He was great and so was the food, and they sang happy birthday to my dad (really badly, but on purpose. It was hilarious). Then my brother took us for a drive around the area and showed us the house he and his boyfriend are going to be renting together. Lakeland is very pretty, but I think it's crazy that George drives all the way to Orlando for work 4 times a week.

Casey and I finally arrived home at around 9 and squeezed in one episode of Angel before heading to bed. I'm still working on laundry, but I think the rest is going to have to wait until tomorrow, because I'm getting sleepy!

I think I could really use plan free weekend. Like that's gonna happen. It would probably help if I stopped saying yes to everything, LOL. But it's all so much fun!
