Wednesday:
Had my annual check up. As usual, everything is great except my weight. He prescribed me an appetite suppressant, which I'm going to start tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. Gotta go back to see him again in 6 weeks to monitor my progress.
The thing I was dreading the most, the good ol' pap, didn't happen. Turns out, he doesn't do that anymore because his new practice has OBGYNs and it gets "territorial" (his word). To be honest I'd be more comfortable going to someone who specializes in that area anyway. I told him about the issues I've been having with my menstrual cycle and he said it sounds like it could be
PCOS and that I should see one of the gynecologists for a pelvic exam and ultrasound. Well, turns out they don't take my insurance, so I'm going to have to go find my own OBGYN. I went on my insurance website today and sent an email to an office nearby to request an appointment.
I left the doctor's office and went straight to Casey's track meet, which was 1/2 hour in. She'd already run her race, which kind of sucked because I would like to have seen it, but was also good because we were able to leave and get her to hip hop on time.
I decided to stay and watch her dance class this time, but it was boring because they were learning a new dance and they just did the same 4 steps over and over. Oh well, at least I had my book.
I pulled her out of there 20 minutes early and dropped her off right on time for youth group. Went home, watched part of a Dana Gould stand up special, and then went back to pick her up and finally take her home.
Thursday:
Today was Take Your Kids To Work Day. Casey was in the soundstage from 8-3, mostly listening to people talk. She said it was pretty boring, except they did tell them all about the new coaster that's going to open this summer and she seemed pretty excited about that. My supervisor and assistant manager had their kids there too, so the 3 of us went and had lunch with them together, and then we brought them back to the office later. Luiz (supervisor) had brought in stuff for goody bags he had me put together for them. There were some Universal pencils, candy and a disposable camera. Also, I decorated cards for each of them with stickers and had everyone sign them. I put Casey to work filling out paperwork for the summer camp she'll be attending at her school, and just when she had finished that and was starting to get bored, my co-worker Amy offered to take her and the boys into the park for a while. I was too busy to go play, so I said sure and sent her on her way. Amy used to work at the attractions (so did I, but a million years ago) so she knew people and got them in to a bunch of rides with no lines. Sweet. They finally came back at around 5:15 and we rushed out the door.
From there we went to her school to sign her up for summer camp. In and out, easy peasy. Had to pay $120 cash up front, but that pays for the whole summer, minus field trips. Good deal.
So then I dropped her off at home and headed to my friend Alan's house. As I've mentioned before, Alan is a guy I went to high school with. We were extremely close friends for a couple of years, and then he moved away (and eventually came back, but I'd already graduated and we never really starting hanging out again). I was deeply in love with him, but as it turns out he's not into girls. Story of my life, LOL. Anyway, this was the first time we've really hung out since we were teenagers, and it was great. We had spaghetti, wine and ice cream and watched Phantom. Good times. I got home at 11. And now I really need to go to sleep. For a week. I wish. LOL
P.S. Oh yeah, get this. In my new job I work with the Blue Man Group people a lot, mostly doing the invoices for groups that come to see the show. So today one of the sales reps was like "Hey, thanks for all that you do for us. How would you like to come see the show?" So Casey and I are going next weekend. AND they are going to incorporate her name into the show! If you've seen it, you know there are these teleprompters at the beginning that say funny things, and they are going to call her out on them. Of course I didn't tell her that part. It's going to be fabulous. It's good to be connected!
