We Are Busy Girls

I took Casey to that audition workshop this morning. It turned out to be basically a class on how to audition. She was not impressed. She texted me at one point "There's a bunch of little kids here!" (well duh.... I told her it was for ages 8-12), and then informed me afterwards that she was not interested in trying out. This really pissed me off because there wasn't a single thing we learned today that we didn't already know, but suddenly she decides it's not for her. So either she wasn't listening when I explained it to her or she's just being wishy washy, but I was really annoyed that I'd had to drag her out of bed, drive all that way and figure out ways to keep myself busy for an hour while she was there (I ended up getting a few groceries and making a couple of phone calls), all for nothing. But she did have to decide right on the spot Wednesday, so I guess I can't totally blame her for changing her mind. Still, GR.

So then we went to the Universal Studios store in the mall and got her a hoodie with Donkey from Shrek on it. It was on sale for $20 and then I used my employee discount to get it for $11. Not bad. I think they're selling for like $60 at the park. Also, the smallest size they had was a large and Casey is swimming in it, so they threw in a free Sam I Am hat. Not sure either of us will ever wear it, but still. Yeah, she wanted the shirt even though it's huge on her. I did wash it in cold water as soon as we got home, but it still looks pretty big. She swears she'll wear it anyway.

We had lunch at Cici's. I had a coupon for a free buffet with a paid one and since they are only charging $4 right now, I figured it would be $4 for both of us. Yeah, they get you on the drinks. I actually paid $9. But still, for all you can eat for 2 people that's not so bad. Their pizza is very meh, but they totally make up for it with those awesome cinamon rolls and brownies.

Next stop was Ae'ropostale to get Casey a free tank top via a Seventeen magazine promotion. It's a cute shirt. FYI for those of you that might want to do this - you are supposed to be 13 to 26 years old (which we are not, but Casey is only a month away and they didn't ask), and as you can see in the comments of that link, there seems to be a problem with the rules. You are supposed to just bring in a printout of the Seventeen.com home page, but they almost didn't give us the shirt because the cover page doesn't mention the promotion and they needed some kind of barcode. The cashier just decided to be nice in our case, but if you decide to do it make sure you find the page with a picture of the top and a barcode.

Then I ran into T-Mobile to get a new charger for my cell phone. Casey's decided to stop working a couple of weeks ago, so we've been sharing one (we have the same kind of phone) and it's been a pain in the ass. I usually just keep mine by my bed and it was a habit to plug it in every night, but with us switching it back and forth it's been hard to remember. Anyway, I forked over $20 for a new one and gave Casey my old one with instructions to please be gentle because I don't want to buy any more of them.

Now we're finally home for a few hours, and then we're meeting the babydaddy and his wife for dinner at Bubba Gump (which is one of our favorite restaurants, so I was thrilled when Jae recommended it) and then we're all going to Mardi Gras to meet up with Christine, Danielle, Carmen and maybe some others to watch the parade (Again! We're going to have all the floats memorized before too long) and then Barenaked Ladies (and probably squeeze in a ride on The Mummy too). This works out well financially too, since I'm getting them in the park free and they are in turn paying for dinner (and for the Girl Scout cookies they bought, which I've already had to pay the troop for). Woo.
