Okay, so the dance tonight was really lame. You couldn't really even call it a dance because nobody was... um... dancing. That was due to the fact that they had the music turned down really low and the lights on bright. If they had just fixed that, I think it would have been pretty good because there was at least a good turn out (although very few of them were people I knew, and even then I barely knew them. Other than Robert, Christine and Mike everyone there was a virtual stranger to me).

And then they had these games. They announced that since the idea behind the dance was to bring single people together to get to know each other, they were going to have some games. They pulled names out of a hat, so it wasn't like they asked for volunteers. Oh no, they basically called you out, LOL. In the first game, Mike and Christine were chosen, among others. Everyone had to find a partner of the opposite sex and then they put a sheet of newspaper on the floor next to each couple. It was kind of an odd take on musical chairs, because you had to dance with your partner until the music stopped, and then you had to try and squeeze together on the piece of paper. Kind of a cute idea, actually. I didn't really mind the games, I just thought they went on too long. Anyway, after each round you had to fold the newspaper up so it would keep getting smaller. Mike and Christine were funny to watch. At one point he actually just picked her up. I said he was lucky I wasn't his partner at that point.

Anyway, the next game I got picked for. But this time, for some reason they said the pairs didn't have to be boy/girl and they stuck me with a girl. Well, the game was to hold an orange between our foreheads and dance without it falling. Um. That's a couple thing. I didn't get why I had to do this with a girl. They even had a couple of guys paired up and they were like "Oh hell no", and they switched with another girl/girl team. But we didn't have that kind of luck. We dropped our orange pretty quickly, which was fine with me because it was all very awkward.

So then we thought maybe the games were over and they were going to pump up the music and it was going to be time to dance. After all, it was 9:30 by then and the "dance" had started at 7. But no. They got out blindfolds and started calling names again. Right then, Christine was like "Uh uh. I can't take it anymore. Can we just go to a bar?" So she and I grabbed Robert and left.

We went to some sports bar place called Friendly something and had some beer and food. It was a much more fun atmosphere. There was a guy dressed as Captain Morgan going around giving out beads, hats and shots. I didn't drink much at all because I had driven and we had a pretty long drive home. Christine got pretty tipsy and kept yelling at me to drive faster on the way home and then laughing. LOL, dork.

Well, at the very least we got all dressed up and managed to go out and have a decent time hanging out together. There were a lot of pics being taken at the party, so I'm going to try and get copies and if they're good I'll post them.

I think it's time for bed.
