Lunch With The Ex, etc.

I'm having lunch with Ken today. He asked if I could donate Universal tickets for some charity thingy, so I said sure and offered to mail them. He said no, we may as well use it as an excuse to get together. So yay, lunch with mah buddy Ken.

Casey (looking at street sign): Who's Ronald Reagan? (OMG. I'm ashamed that she had to ask this)
Me: He used to be president
Casey: He got a street named after him?
Me: Yep, several
Casey: Ha ha, Bush didn't!
Me: Oh, I'm sure there are some
Casey: They should name a mental asylum after him.

That's my girl

Me: So, in band do they have a 1st chair & 2nd chair?
Casey: No. We're all new, so right now everyone is 59th chair. Although John has played before, so he'd probably be number 1. And maybe Gina would be number 2.
Me: Heh. Number 2. Heh.
Casey: MOM!
Me: *snort*
Casey: Mom, that's something a little boy would say!
Me: You totally said number 2. Heh
Casey: *giggle*

You SO want to hear about my ear wax removal from yesterday. It went well, and now I can hear. Instead of flushing it with water, she used this light up stick thingy and just dug it out. It hurt a little, and she made me nervous by saying "Don't worry.. it will probably hurt, but I promise I won't bust your eardrum", but she was really gentle and it wasn't so bad.

I got home at a little after 4, and Casey arrived a few minutes later. We eventually headed out to the music store to pick up her flute. It took an hour to drive there. Really, there aren't any decent music stores closer than that? Her teacher had recommended 2, both about the same distance from our house, and said that all others would be really expensive and not the best quality. So I took his word for it and we made the drive. Eh, it gave us a chance to sing along to the entire Hairspray soundtrack, so it was all good. She's incredibly excited about her new instrument. She's making some really weird sounds with it at the moment, but I'm sure that will improve soon.

She had a bunch of homework to do last night, and getting her to put the damn flute down and do it was near impossible. But she eventually managed. Jeez.

We watched 30 Rock for the first time last night and it's freaking hilarious. I really needed more TV shows to watch. LOL

The Office - Funny episode, but I don't think they have been as good as previous seasons so far. I can't put my finger on it, but something's missing. And as much as I am all for JAM (or PB&J), they kind of made me ill last night. It's a bit of overkill. I did love when Pam kissed Jim on the cheek and he said "How dare you?" and then when they did an air five after Ryan offered Pam the chance to design a logo (Oh, and when Ryan asked Pam out and she's like "I'm dating Jim", and Jim waves... that was awesome!). But otherwise, bleh. Too much.

Things I also liked: Garbage the cat (next time I get a pet, I am SO naming it Garbage, LOL), Creed's new hair, Michael's Where's The Beef Poster, "Cash basket!", "Dude, you are so money and you don't even know it, but you do!", "I drove into a fucking lake!", and "Computers are about murdering people in a lake".

Greys - George was back to his adorable self last night ("Did you see how I just walked out that door all determined?"). Yay. I feel horrible for Callie though. She's been nothing but stepped on since her first day on this show. Also, last night reminded me why I love Bailey SO MUCH.

Weekend plans! Back to the good ol' days of really busy weekends...

Saturday -

8 AM: Drop Casey off at the park for her Girl Scout park renovation project
10:30: Willow's vet appointment (follow up from 2 weeks ago)
1 PM: Pick Casey up from the park
6 PM: Animal blessing mass at the church. This is an annual thing where you bring your pets, they have church outside and then they bless the animals. This will be our mass for the weekend, so we won't be going on Sunday.
7 PM: After church, drop Casey off with my parents, go home and get ready and then meet Ryan, Lidiana, Melanie, Nisar, Jason, Jeanina, Mick and probably others for Ryan's birthday celebration at Octoberfest, downtown Orlando. Much alcohol will be consumed and debauchery will most likely ensue.

Sunday -

8:45 AM or so: My parents will drop Casey off on their way to church. Hopefully I can just stay in bed for a while.
10:30-ish: Possibly go have breakfast with my parents
1 PM: Drop Casey off at the park to finish her GS project
4 PM: Pick her up, go home and make her take a shower
5:30 PM: Go out to dinner with the family for my brother's birthday

And every spare moment in between (when I'm not doing the usual bill paying, laundry & groceries) will be spent preparing for next weekend's garage sale. Oh, and Casey has some school project to do as well. Whew.

ken, health, the office, band, politics, kids say the darndest things, 30 rock, greys
