I get tons of spam in my AOL mailbox, and I can usually tell and just delete it right away. Casey is jealous of me every time I open my mail and I have 40 emails, and every time she says it’s not fair, I tell her it’s all spam. She’s the one that’s lucky she doesn’t get any of that crap. So today I opened one because I thought it might be spam, but wasn’t positive. Yeah. First line - “Need a fuck buddy?” Well, okay then.

Casey and I went to the dentist this morning. We usually go every 6 months, but I think it’s been a year or more since our last visit. I had to switch dentists, and then I didn’t have any time left to take off work, etc. So anyway, Casey is pretty lousy at brushing her teeth, so I have just been waiting for her to get a cavity and figure out that I nag her about that for a reason.
So guess what? SHE is fine. I, however, have to go back for an hour long cleaning and 2 fillings. Actually, a couple of her sealants came out and he wants to replace them, but that’s nothing. It’s like painting your teeth.
So anyway, all of this totals $230. SIGH. I actually think I’m going to cancel the sealing and the fillings, because the dentist said they were not that big a deal. He said as long as she’s coming in every 6 months, they can keep an eye on those teeth and if we want to seal them later, we can. Sealants basically fill in those crevices in your teeth so food and plaque can’t gather in there. They only do it on children because they don’t tend to brush as well as adults. He said with her being 10, it was really optional. So, since we plan on sticking with the 2 checkups a year, I don’t know if it’s so necessary.
As for my fillings, I have one back tooth that was filled when I was a child (I haven’t had a cavity since I was like 9) that I guess he wants to fix or something. And then there’s another tooth that might have a tiny cavity. He didn’t even seem that sure. He said neither of them is that huge a deal and we could just as easily not fill it, but that maybe I’d want to do it just to be safe. Now I’m thinking I’d rather not, since it’s just more money and time off work. They kind of just made the appointments and rushed me out the door, but I think I’m going to call and cancel all that.
That long cleaning, which would probably be the most unpleasant part, I know is really necessary. So I’ll do that. And of course, that’s $140 of the $230, so I’m not saving THAT much. But that’s still $90 I don’t have to spend and less time out of work and school.
SIGH
But hey, get this. It was our first time at this dentist, and he’s really nice and all. But the coolest thing is that they have TVs in the examining rooms. Like, actually attached to the chair, so you can watch whatever you want while they work on you! SWEET. That will come in handy while I get scraped and waxed for an hour. (shiver)
And oh, very unpleasant watching my baby get her teeth x-rayed. The mouth piece they used was too big for her little mouth (I know some places have kid ones… come ON), so she was obviously uncomfortable and even gagging. Oh, I hate watching her go through stuff like that.
Today is the department holiday luncheon. All the management types had to bring in food for it. Ha ha. Should be kind of boring, except for the free food part. Tomorrow we’re going to Sea World. Wee! Our area of Finance falls under this guy Dan, and he is also over one other area (we are Ops Finance Non-Revenue and they are Ops Finance Revenue). He’s taking us all to Sea World tomorrow afternoon. So yeah. Cool Friday afternoon activity.
