The Rest Of My Weekend

Jul 05, 2005 12:24

Well, I can't top my story from Saturday night/Sunday morning (not that I want to!), but here's how the rest of the weekend went.

Went to bed Sunday night at around 9:20 and unplugged my phone. Heard Chris call at 9:30 and ignored him. He left me a message to call him, which I erased the next morning. I have no interest in talking to that guy. The phone rang again at 9:30 last night and I ignored it then too. This time he didn't leave a message, but I'm sure it was him. Take a hint, buddy.

I slept for 12 hours Sunday night/Monday morning, and was still really tired all day Monday. I was pumping myself full of caffeinated sodas all day. Anyway, Monday my mom woke me up at 9:30 by calling and reminding me that we were going out to lunch for her birthday, so I'd better make sure I picked Casey up soon. Off I went to pick her up, and we arrived at my parents' house at around noon. A new shopping center is opening up little by little near us (on Osceola Parkway), and we went to see if the new Chili's was open yet. No, but they were training new employees and invited us to come eat for free so they could get some practice. Heck yeah! We enjoyed the meal, and it was amusing to watch the employees. Our waitress was terrified and kept shaking. We felt bad for her, but come on... how complicated is it, really? Then my dad's soup was cold, and he casually mentioned it to the waiter (the waitress' trainer). Well, it was like they were afraid we'd sue. They rushed back to get him some more and two different managers came by to tell my dad they were very sorry. We were laughing and saying they must be running around the kitchen yelling "COLD SOUP ALERT! COLD SOUP ALERT!" with an alarm going off or something.

After lunch, Casey and I headed to Ken's party, which turned out to be Geekfest 2005. My God, why do I go to those things? While we watched Galaxy Quest, people chatted about disk drives and comic book movies. I was thinking "You have GOT to be freaking kidding me". I felt like a pretty cool person, since I couldn't relate at all to their conversations. Even though I was bored to tears, I sucked it up and stayed for two hours for Casey's sake. She had met 2 little girls there and became best friends with them instantly, and they were having a blast together. Eventually, I drug her butt out of there, so as to avoid shooting myself.

I made Casey go to bed early, because she was a complete grump after her sleepover. They had apparently stayed in the pool until midnight and THEN watched a movie before going to sleep. Anyway, just as I got her to get in bed, they started shooting fireworks outside, and she told me I was a bad mother for not letting her watch fireworks on the 4th of July. Number one, she doesn't like them and was just stalling. #2, as I pointed out to her, yeah, I'm a terrible mother because I didn't let her do ANYTHING fun this weekend. Hmph. Some thanks I get. So then I tried to go to sleep at around 10, and people continued to shoot fucking fireworks until nearly 1 AM. I was SO PISSED. I would fall asleep, only to be awakened by more popping. I actually got in my car at 12:30 (in PJs with no shoes) and drove around trying to figure out where the fireworks were coming from. I was either going to yell at them or call the cops... I wasn't sure which. But I couldnt' figure it out, so I gave up and went back to bed, and they stopped not long after that. I mean come on... I know it's the 4th, but you don't have to do that shit in the middle of the night when people have to get up for work in the morning.

So, there you have it. I'm back at work, and Todd is on vacation, which is awesome. Time for lots of internet play!

ken, family, fireworks, the loop
