"Nowhere Boy" Review

I finally got my DVD of "Nowhere Boy" and just got done watching it and it was fantastic!!!  :D  Probably the best Beatles biopic I have seen so far!!! :D

It was just so well acted, written, and directed!!! :D  For those that don't know, this film focuses more on John Lennon's teenage years, family, and the formation of what would become The Beatles.  I don't consider movies like these to have spoilers so I'm not putting anything behind a cut.

Aaron Johnson was SO great at John!!! :D  He just played him so well.  Totally a great choice to play John.  ;)  I really enjoyed getting to watch this finally and it's such a great film.  :)  Kristin Scott Thomas and Anne-Marie Duff were so great too as John's aunt Mimi and mother Julia.  And Thomas Shangster was really great as Paul McCartney!!! :D  I really loved the scene during the funeral where John finally blows up at Julia's funeral, punches Paul then cries in his arms as their friendship deepens because of the loss of their mothers, and then they go back inside and everyone including George Harrison (Sam Bell) is crying and John then starts making everyone laugh again was just a fantastic scene!!!  :D

The boys (Aaron, Tom, and Sam) too did really great getting the accents down and they really did sound like The Beatles singing!!! :D  I also really liked after the movie they showed real pics of John, and of him with Mimi, Julia, his other ex-bandmates, Paul, and George.  :)

I only had a few things I was slightly dissapointed with.  First, I wish Cynthia, John's 1st wife, was in this.  He met her around the time this took place.  I know there was a blonde girl John was with towards the end, so I might just pretend that was her. LOL ;)  2nd, I wish they had shown Stu, the original Beatles bass player.  He was mentioned, but it would have been nice to see him too.  3rd was that I always seem to have a bit of an issue with whoever is George. LOL ;)  Probably because he is my favorite Beatle, but it's hard for me to accept that it's supposed to be him.  LOL ;)  I've only ever had in mind 3 actors to play George (Billy Crudup, Christian Bale, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt), so it's still makes me uneasy when the actor doesn't look or sound like George.  However, I was ok with Sam because not everyone looked exactly like who they were playing, but Sam still did a good job and he actually did have brown eyes.  :)

I have seen some Beatles biopics over the years, but this one is totally my favorite!!! :D  I also think if they do make another Beatles biopic/miniseries, they should really think about using Aaron as John again.  He's a great actor and is only 20, so they have plenty of time to make one. ;)  I still don't know who to play Ringo, but I now have it down to Aaron as John, Jim Sturgess as Paul, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as George, and Michael Sheen as Brian Epstein. ;)  I totally think that would work.

So I totally recommend this to all the Beatles fans, and anyone really!!! :D  It's just a great movie!!! :D
