Oh, this was so good. Speirs is such an interesting character - I can't quite wrap my mind around his actions, but damn, the man is Badass with a capital B. I don't read gen all that often, but for Speris I made an exception, and your fic was definitely worth it.

I love how you touched on all the major details of his life, both from the series and the books, and how we get to see him as he interacts with all the other men.

i love scenes with speirs and the men. you know half of them wanted to pee their pants. and speirs must have been wtf is up with perco? :D

Not to mention the way he acts with the women in his life - I don't think I ever could have figured out how to write Speirs with his mother, but you managed to make their interactions so convincing and in-character. (And the bit about her being the reason behind the looting? BRILLIANT.)

hee! :D i figured he'd need a strong mother, and i wanted to give him a slighty scary one who would support him, and like his creepier qualities. the family that scares together stays together. i think i read that on a pillow once. ;-P

Same with Clara; it's always hard for me to imagine Speirs as a married man, but you made it play out just right.

i was fairly shocked when i found out he got married. and i always felt terrible when he got dumped for not-dead husband #1. so ron needs the army to focus on when everything else goes to crap.

The whole final section with Grant was excellent, and I just want to say how much I loved this line: "He looks at Manne, he looks at him, into him, and Ronald Speirs doesn't know it, but there are several Easy Company men who will have nightmares about that look for the next twenty years." YES. So perfectly Speirs.

matthew settle kicked ass. that's all i can say. he looked so INTENSE and FURIOUS i would have died right in that chair if i'd have been manne.

And (just to make this comment even LONGER, jeez) the pictures you included were a nice touch! I especially liked the photo of real!Speirs at the end, with that borderline-psychopath smile, heh.
