You write so beautifully. I totally didn't see where this was leading, then the curtain. I held on until Luz jumps into the foxhole, and now I can't stop crying. It's going to hurt when I get this far in the tv series.

Oh god, way to break my heart, dammit. (Should've guessed from the characters. Skip always gets me just *there* - I think it's age and his personality, he feels like somebody I could've known, and there's this huge sense of lost opportunity.)

It's a subject that's been touched on a lot, and the series says it best with what little there is, but I really like the originality of the spin you put on it - I can see the influence of Et Maneat Semper, but the description of the 'tent', the final twist of where the perspective came from, made it something individual.

Also, the line 'Penk has an unnatural attachment to my shoulder. Lotsa guys do.' is just pure win.

i love skip. i get so frustrated/upset by his death, the futility of it. i know there are many great men who lost their lives in easy (and all companies) but skip holds a special place in my heart.
