Ran Dread and Montsegur for GO Con.
Montsegur:
Only had 2 players show. Mike Parker was without something to do, so he hopped in, bringing it to 3 + me. So we had a 4 player game! I'm much more in favor of the 6 person game, after having done 4. With 3 characters each in the 4 person game, some get lost in the shuffle, whereas in the 6 player game there are only 2 characters each, which keep characters in the spotlight and make for more complex games. Still, the players had fun.
Some interesting bits: Garnier turning traitor, Bernard escaping into the night with Phillipa. Esclarmonde turning traitor. Two competing plans for saving the daughter of the castle.
What Rocked
Family dinner. Always fun.
Three burners and one escapee made for a fun, dark ending.
The props. Much love to Chrissy for the hard work on those. They turned out beautifully and everyone loved them.
What Didn't
Having only 1/3rd of the players show to a time slot that I'd heard was ridiculously full, enough so that pickup games got organized.
Next game, Dread!
Reran the Gettysburg game. Since I'll be running it again, not too much detail here.
I'd been intending on having to cut some of the scenes out to make time for the meat of the game, but when only 3 players showed I didn't need to!
Ran every encounter, and most of them have gotten creepier. Which is awesome. Threw in the few extra details I'd come up with.
What Rocked
All the players were totally into the genre.
Mike Bogan's random kid who claims to be Yog Saggoth paid off again! It's a good midpoint, and sets the stage for the rest of the game.
Being told that you've sold someone on a system is a high compliment, and I received it!
Same thing goes with being told you're evil :)
What didn't
3 no shows meant only the Union was present. Much less tension that way.
So...GoCon. My first one!
The Good:
Seeing most of my con friends was fun. I think I'll be going back to October minicon just to hang with them, if for no other reason.
Hanging out with Battymaiden was awesome. Haven't hung out with her/seen her since she moved to the Bay Area, so it was doubly good.
Two good games, 5 satisfied players equal a satisfied GM.
The Bad:
I always get lonely at cons. This con it was very short, just about 30 minutes in the morning slot. It's the worst part about cons.
