Thing is, we don't have any of those really great cullinary schools 'round here. I've looked into it extensively and it seems like the best and closest places are in PA.
However, NCCC offers a really good 2-year pastry arts program and both NCCC and ECC do cullinary programs. Really all you need is the 2 year degree/certification and to get into a restaurant. The NCCC program places you into a work-study too, I believe. I haven't done it but was seriously looking into it.
Sometimes bakeries will hire you if you show potential and they'll train you-- which IMO can be better than going to school for it. I don't feel like I need to take things like baking math when I've been baking my whole life, ya know?
