Impartial is a word reserved for the blind and ignorant... No one is impartial... However,
The American People, on the whole, are not ashamed of America. It has been said that it is unpatriotic if you do not stand up for what you believe is right for your country. Regaurdless of whether it is something the American populous as a whole embraces or not. When people protest Bush or say unkind things about the way things are run it is not because they hate America, it is not because they have given up on her, quite the contrary, in fact it is because they feel the country is being run in a way that obstructs the very beliefs it stands for.
Racism should be frowned upon. No one is expecting you to not have judgements about others it is when you ACT upon them that it becomes racism and that IS a problem that should never be allowed. If you allow it, it will continue.
In regaurds to the flag, I agree with you to a point, our flag should be treated with respect, but that flag was used in a way that demonstrates one of our most precious rights: FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND EXPRESSION.
What better way is there to honor a flag than to use it to honor the very rights it stands for? If we do not demonstrate and respect these rights we will LOSE them. If we lose our rights we are losing the one of The FUNDEMENTAL roots of what makes us the great country that we are. That is why the American people are fighting so hard, that is why this battle rages so. People are still passionate about America . No we cannot all be perfect, No we cannot all agree, but we certainly cannot stop fighting for what is right.
We do not have the luxury of waiting for our next great era, WE THE PEOPLE MUST MAKE IT.
