So
thesoundofduck and
ooorgh are gone to their respective faraway lands. Sadness! But ooorgh left me a couple of Go books, so I intend to defeat him good the next time we play. Hopefully I'll soon be able to play him with less than a 4-stone handicap.
buzzbirdy and I completed our office in the basement yesterday. Now my computer is in there instead of my room, so I didn't have the comforting hum to drown out the rest of the house. I lost a good deal of sleep because of it. I'd be drifting off to sleep, and then *clunk* and I'm wide awake again. But when I did sleep, I slept well. So we'll see how it goes.
Played squash this morning with my dad. I think I'm getting better because I'm starting to win consistently. Maybe I'm just missing fewer shots. He has more power than me, so I have to use my speed to catch up to some shots he makes to the back corners. We're usually pretty well-matched because of it. I'm starting to find some power though. Today I was all offense. If he did manage to return a hard shot of mine, it would usually be a weak response (expected) which I can crush somewhere else in the court. Also, my drop shots were on today, and he doesn't often catch up to those. I think I position myself better on the court. For example, if I make a good serve that's hard to return, I'll sort of wander up to the wall because any return he might make must end up short. He doesn't do that. He just serves, and watches because he thinks it'll be an ace. It will be most of the time, but sometimes I'll barely return it and he'll be in no position to play it. Whereas if he would just walk up to the wall those times he'll easily put it away on the off chance that I do return it. I like squash. =)
