Fast Fiction Challenge: Sideburns From Another World!

Title: Sideburns From Another World!
Word: monkey
Challenger: zemo
Length: 200 words exactly He could cope with the personal attacks against himself; he was used to that from his home planetary system.

If it wasn't one thing, it was another. Neither his parents, nor those of his mate, had ever approved of the second eye he'd had put in. Despite the increased opportunities for off-world visits, they thought it made him look ugly. He could still hear the snide comments his birth-female had made before he left. His birth-male had simply sniffed with three of his five noses in dismissal, as if to say "teenagers!"

And his mate’s had never liked him from the day they met. Speciest bastards.

None of them understood what a lucky break it was, both of them having the one in a hundred thousand body chemistry that allowed visits to other worlds on behalf of the Agency, to report on life on other worlds.

And once on Earth, he’d taken the mocking of his fur-style in good humour. (It had taken them six weeks to realise that he’d mistaken the fashions by some fifty years.)

But when the humans started mocking his monkey, that was the final straw.

No one insulted his wife and got away with it!
