I know I don't know you, but I saw your icon on iheartcinema and stumbled onto your LJ cause I saw you were a horse person.

We had a mare that did that for a while, and it was nothing other than her being retarded and needing to be worked through it. I'd check her teeth first though, just in case, and then slap some rubber reins (like a martingale/tie down but stretchy...dunno if you've used them or not) on her and work with those, or use one side rein at a time and lunge her. That helped with our mare.

Gate sourness can totally be fixed. My TB gelding was the most ring sour animal I'd ever been on (mostly b/c he was a foxhunter when I got him and hadn't been ridden in a ring all that much) but we broke him of it by working him daily in the ring (even if it was just hand walking him around) and by the the end of the first two weeks or so he was fine. Just peachy and cooperative.

But she's cute! She'd be a really cute hunter from what I remember of hunters (I was an Eventer). Her problems all sound very fixable and project horses are always a blast!!

hey!!

your SO right.. all it was was her being retarted and needing to work through it. after having her teeth done and her adjusting to her shoes.. shes FINE! she still kindof has an attitude when she has to do new hard thigns because she is still gaining muscle.. but its coming slowly but surely, and the gate sourness is MUCH better! i actually moved her to a new place where she is much happier and the ring is bigger and she is just an angel. she is a blast to ride and looks much better now than in those nasty pictures. ill put some new ones up after my show this weekend im takin her to. she is so pretty now and a great mover. thanks so much for the comment!
