Comics, Doctor Who, Concerts, and Comics

*blows dust off*

Also, hi! There's nothing particularly exciting going on with me at the moment, to the point that I don't know what to post, really. Let's see:

+ I'm sad to hear that the Doctor Who Confidential has been axed due to the on going BBC cuts.

+
I'm really disappointed with the first issue of the rebooted Catwoman. I've loved the character since I was a kid and fancied her just as long but I didn't find anything attractive or appealing about the 'sexy' Catwoman they've portrayed with the non-story to top it off. It didn't feel like a supervillain or anti-hero comic. It felt like a soft core skin flick. It's kind of a mess with a nebulous script and artwork you wouldn't want to read in public.

I should have enjoyed it but I didn't and I don't know how it's supposed to be empowering or support sexually liberated women when, as Comics Alliance put it:

'This is not about these women wanting things; it's about men wanting to see them do things, and that takes something that really should be empowering -- the idea that women can own their sexuality -- and transforms it into yet another male fantasy. It takes away the actual power of the women and turns their "sexual liberation" into just another way for dudes to get off. And that is at least ten times as gross as regular cheesecake, minimum.'

+ A 7 Year Old Girl Responds to DC Comics Sexed Up Reboot of Starfire. *thumbs up*

+ I'm also sad to see that DC Benches Lesbian Superhero The Question.

+ On a less miserable note, I still have my precious Batwoman comics to come and they seem promising! :D

+ An article about fanfiction that isn't aggravating and condescending! This has been floating around for quite a while and it's too lovely for me to not post as well.

'Fan fiction is what literature might look like if it were reinvented from scratch after a nuclear apocalypse by a band of brilliant pop-culture junkies trapped in a sealed bunker. They don’t do it for money. That’s not what it’s about. The writers write it and put it up online just for the satisfaction. They’re fans, but they’re not silent, couchbound consumers of media. The culture talks to them, and they talk back to the culture in its own language.'

+ lil_lollypop36 has made some adorable art of Colin/Merlin and Bradley/Arthur from chayiana's pictures. ♥

+ I'll be seeing The Pierces in concert in about a months time. I may spam with some of their music after since I might be on a post gig high. \0/

+ As for the rest of RL:
