sodden swampy shoes
you carried me through so I wouldn't feel the grime
slip between my toes
abandoned holes flooded with rain
it didn't smell as I had expected
the inner tube kept me abreast
and you flipped in and out
eyeing my breast
breathing my air
stealing the comfort of the inches i put between us
first kiss, on the water
i might have laughed a bit
the goosebumps forced us back to the shore
you wanted more
the towel shrank with our motions
the hum hum rumble of four wheelers
were our romantic music
pulling on my adidas and soaking wet cut offs
you ask if i'll answer when you call.
the sun is beating my good sense, senseless
i laugh at your jokes and say, of course.
three days past and we've been in touch
i barely know it, but i crave your touch
a grown woman filled with lust
for the novelty of a new man's skin
in the dark night, it is cool and quiet
my senses are set straight again
this is not who i am
one night
