Freelancing as a theatrical lighting designer and industrial/event/corporate electrician means that my work can be very physically demanding. That's not an issue since over time I've notice that I have gotten stronger, but I bruise like a mofo! I'm not exactly sure what is up with it, but I usually use the excuse that I bruise so easily since I am a vegetarian. Could be true, right???
Currently, I have some many pretty bruises, especially on my left arm. My favorite is the one on my upper arm that is about the size of a fist. I really don't know how I got this bruise, but I feel like I walked into something while I was rushing to do something. It's a very large and colorful bruise.
Tonight on the train, on my way home from a gig, I felt like this woman across from me kept looking at me. I tried to assume that I was being silly and went back to my book. At her stop, as she was exiting, she handed me a card and said,
"Please take this. It may help you."
Confused, I thanked her and looked at the card. In big bold writing it said,
"Women In Need"
It was a card to a Domestic Violence Shelter with a hotline number circled.
Her heart was in the right place, but... so not something I "need".
