This is Mayfield. Think of it as a high tech war shelter. Or at least we think that's what it was meant to be. Somewhere along the line someone went crazy and, well... here we are. Another world, another time... Not a lick of it makes any sense. What we DO know is that this place is extremely dangerous.
Woah hollyyyyy shit new layout surprised me XD C! btwrogersthatNovember 2 2011, 02:58:33 UTC
[One wonders if you can even recognize Steve in his current state. He's still fairly tall, but he's thin looking. Nothing like he used to look.
He's sitting on a park bench though, sketching. At least, until the light becomes too much of a problem that he'll have to retire for the night.
He just needed to get out for a little. Away from the drones and the oddities.] I hope you're a normal duck and not whatever these inhabitants are. [Totally not talking to a duck.]
[It's no surprise, but he really doesn't recognize Steve off-hand. He never saw him as the skinny boy from Brooklyn, just Private Rogers or Captain America.
It's the voice that catches his attention, and he scoffs, still half-believing this is all a dream.] You're talking to a duck, Rogers. [He remarks dryly, then glances down the bench; the person he sees there makes him frown slightly.]
...Sorry, I. Thought you were someone else for a minute.
[He looks up, surprised. He hadn't expected anyone to call him by his name. At least, that wasn't the strange drones around this place.
There's a short pause before...] Bucky? [It's hard for him to recognize the other clearly. He hadn't really seen the other except for very short moments.] Bucky, that's you isn't it.
[Bucky frowns slightly when he hears his name. His nickname, actually. The drone woman kept calling him James... He stands up, moving a little closer and peering at him, taking in the shape of the man's features, the color of his hair, the color of his eyes...]
Steve, jesus. Two questions. One, is that really you? and two, do I need to buy you a sandwich or fifty? What the hell happened?
[Kono steps outside for some air. She misses being able to go out for her normal morning surf, but this is the closest she's going to get, so she breathes in the cool morning air, enjoying the peace and quiet of the morning.
The quiet is shattered by some yelling and the sounds of a struggle next door. Alarmed and uncertain, Kono decides to go investigate, just in case something insane has happened with the drones in the house attacking the one real person she saw walking around. It's been that kind of week.
[It takes a few minutes, but finally Bucky answers the door, body tense as if he expects a fight, but seeing the visitor, he relaxes just slightly. At least she doesn't look all vacant-eyed and creepy.]
Yeah, everything's fine, just taking care of a creepy woman who seems to think we've been married forever. Don't suppose you have any idea of where the hell this is?
[Kono sighs. She recognizes that face - her's looked about the same when she woke up the first day.]
Yeah. Unfortunately, you're in Mayfield. I just got here recently myself. It's kinda crazy, waking up in a house where you have no idea where you are or who's in there with you.
'Crazy' is kind of an understatement. Waking up to find you're not missing an arm any more is a little disconcerting, and that's not even taking into account the rest of the weird. [He sighs, runs a hand through his hair and steps back from the door to invite her in.] I need a cup of coffee. Want some?
Shoved her in a closet. Contemplating getting rid of it for good, just have to find a place to hide the body.
