Going Threw Some Tough Times
Tough Times Ahead
For the past four weeks, I have had a little bit extra time to sit behind a computer to work on some digitized images, along with some drawings thanks to having surgery on my knee.”Today wasn't one of them, and I will explain more later in this post.++” Lucky for me I had plenty of sick time built up, and now that I'm on another two weeks of MLOA I'm having to use two of my four weeks a year vacation time. On the flip side, I haven't been able to do any of my other form of income, which is tree work at the local lakes. Then you have my roomy with his heart problems that has been keeping him from doing his form of income. Unlike me, he doesn't get sick time, or have any vacation pay. Between the two of us, it has brought the house hold income way down.
Now there are ways to get around the harsh economic times, but I don't think by selling off things that we own is the answer along with taking out more loans. We wouldn't get what it's worth, and it would be only a temporary fix. Yea I could sell drawings that I have done over the years if people were interested in buying them, and maybe even take on commissions, but to sell things that we need for possible future jobs isn't going to happen. The solution is to knuckle down, cut expenses, and even sell a few deer if we have to, but most of all we need to look for other forms of incomes even if it is odd small jobs.
Now just because things are a little bit tough right now, that doesn't mean to stop setting any goals, and having dreams. One of mine is to get a low to mid range 8gig quad-core i5 iMac. I said low end, but it's still going to run just under $2000 by the time I get all the things needed for it. I know that one isn't just going to drop on my lap, and I guess I could charge one, but one of my other goals is also to get out of credit debt, and believe me, I have come a long way when it comes to that. So the new graphics machine is going to have to be put on the back burner until after I get some bills paid off. So for now it's my laptop being used as a desk top to when ever. I just hope that I'm not over pushing it. I also hope that it's not going to take 4 years. My goal is to work for it, maybe even use tax return money if it's a good chunk.
++ Lots of times when I get inspired to do artwork, it seems like life has a way of saying, “No, you going to be doing something else for the day.” So today, it was playing my part as assistant chief at the local volunteer fire department. A place that I put plenty of time in. I'm just glad that we got a little bit of a fire fighting break this weekend thanks to some rain. So today’s project was helping out in building the new closets for the bunker gear and wild land suits, and then getting our new radios. Tomorrow it's going to be physical therapy, and then I have to do some letter writing to apply for some grants for the department. Tuesday is also going to be shot to hell. Come to think of it, everyday is going to be kind of messed up this week.
