captains log, stardate 2136-A
Whats up everyone? I guess I've finally got somewhat settled in here, our living areas are pretty sweet now. Its amazing what happens when you give a bunch of rednecks an unlimited supply of lumber and power tools. Some people have pretty much built their own houses! Finally figured out some of the routes that we drive on, havn't got lost in about a week. When we did get lost, Kiel Bragg's unit had to come show us where to go, twice, and once on their own base. Havn't seen him yet though. I'm still amazed at the local driving skills. Aparently there are no laws, or at least no one to enforce them. We can block off a 4 lane highway, with 2 lanes in each direction and a median in the middle, and within 10 minutes traffic will be lined up 9 cars wide going both directions, cars on the sides of the road, in the median, and they don't think twice about crossing the median and driving up the wrong side of the road, they do it all the time. It's like in a movie when all the stoplights go out in a major city, and every car is going a different direction. And then there's the kids, who act like the only english they know is "gimme" and "candy" It's like a damn parade everytime we go down the road in daylight, kids just line up expecting candy. But then if you stop it turns out they know lots of english, like "trade me watches" and "no, trade me watches, not him, he's a bitch." Another interesting thing I saw was when a tank was trying to load onto a trailer, and it backed off the side, one track was up in the air spinning. I thought it was funny. It sucked though cause they had traffic blocked trying to get it unstuck, and there were 4 convoys of 30 trucks each trying to get down the road. Supposedly i might get to catch a ride in a blackhawk helicopter on patrol sometime soon, but i'm not holding my breath. I guess now i'll be getting a shotgun to use in the turret, which brings my weapon count to 5, not counting granades. I don't know why I would ever need that much crap, i'm not Rambo, i can only use one at a time. But I did get a cool laser for my pistol, its fun to play with, put red dots on windshields and stuff. Anyways, I hope everyone's doing great back in the USA, you all don't know how good it is to be an American until you see how it is over here. Oh, and if anyone sends me candy to throw to kids, I'll throw it to em, but I'm not buying candy out of my pocket all year long. Just wanted to clear that up, I havn't thrown anything to em yet, especially the one that wanted me to throw him my wind and sun goggles, the greedy twerp!
