Looking Up

Feb 18, 2007 08:08

Dear Journal,

I once went to Vienna by myself and I couldn't find my hotel.

Turns out the entrance was down a side street and the sign for the Astoria was quite high on the building.

If I had only looked up I would have seen the sign and saved myself the time of walking from the north side of the loop all the way to the south side (almost 2 miles).

I didn't want to look up because I thought it would make me look like a tourist.

These days I'm much more likely to look up.  Partially because I don't care about the opinions of other people (I have my friends, I know who I am, I like who I am) and partially because I don't want to miss something important in life.

But it does make me wonder - what else have I missed in the past 23 years because I didn't want to look up?
