There was an eclipse?
I awoke this morning just after 5 AM. We were having a power outage (for no apparent reason...), and the house was very quiet. I looked out my back bedroom window and saw the brilliant full moon shining through the late summer haze over our darkened neighborhood. Wait, not quite full...there was a bit missing from the top. Strange. I stumbled around the house looking for my portable radio and some batteries. Turned it on to catch up on the news, and they mentioned the lunar eclipse. Okay, so that's what's going on. Went to look out the window again, and about half the moon was gone. I stared for a while longer since, you know, it's not something you see everyday. It was all that much brighter and awesome because of the darkness of the neighborhood. I crawled back into bed and nodded off. When I next awoke, the sun was coming up and the power was back on! It was time to rush around and get ready for work. No more time for eclipses, but I'm glad I happened upon the one last night.
