(no subject)
just got home from puerto rico about 2 hours ago. i've been there for the past week. was actually supposed to be home last night at this time, but the past 24 hours have comprised the most absurd, unbelievable travel experience of my life. i'd detail it, but i'm exhausted, and i've gotta get up in the morning to drive 2 hours down to charlottesville -- the semester starts tomorrow and i've got class at 10 AM.
overall, the trip was good. i hadn't seen my grandparents in 5 years, so that was nice. the hard part, though, is that my grandmother isn't well. alzheimers or dementia. it's awful. the worst part about it, though, is how hard it is on my grandfather. he does an amazing job taking care of her, and he's in amazing shape for being 81 years old. but when we arrived, we asked him how he was doing, he replied, "not living, just existing."
