Deep Squad
So remember that LDH group that I promised to talk about? Well this is it. I first learned about Deep Squad from Generations. Gene happened to cover song one of their songs, 'Sora' (Sky) for Ryota's film in 2017 (that film with Tao Tsuchiya that was utter nonsense but we still love 😂)
Anyways, I went back to listen to the original song and it was really lovely so I kept my mind open to them. After they released 'Get With you' and 'Good L'ove Your Love', I was hooked. So here's a little history about these guys.
Deep Squad originally started as a four-member Japanese pop/R&B group under the Sony Music Entertainment sub label, One Nation and LDH agency. The group was originally formed by ATSUSHI in 2004 as COLOR and was one of the members.
Two years later, in late 2006, three of the four members left the group. ATSUSHI become the producer while TAKA become the new leader, and three new members joined COLOR.
In July 2009, they changed the group's name from COLOR to DEEP with only the three members left, and announced that they were not longer produced by ATSUSHI. In December 2015, the group switched labels from the avex trax sublabel rhythm zone to the Sony Music Entertainment sublabel One Nation, with the single "MAYDAY" as their first release on the new label.
Eventually, the last three members decided to change the name once more and create a new group. This project involved from the three remaining members adding three new members who were the winners of the DEEP VOCALIST AUDITION in 2019.
On July 22, 2019, a live event titled DEEP VOCALIST AUDITION ~FINAL STAGE~ was held at Akasaka BLITZ where the members of DEEP revealed that the group would continue activities as a trio. However, they also started a new entertainment project titled "DEEP SQUAD", including three new members who were the winners of the audition out of 12.000 contestants: Uhara Yuhi, Sugiyama Ryoji and Higa Suzuki.
On June 16, 2020, it was announced that DEEP SQUAD would make their official debut on July 22 with the digital single "Get With You", exactly one year after their formation. On the same day as the announcement, the group opened their official YouTube channel and Twitter and Instagram account.
On October 30, the group released the digital single "Good Love Your Love". The song was used as ending theme song of the drama 30sai made Doutei da to Mahou Tsukai ni Nareru Rashii starring Keita Machida.
"Anata ga Mayowazu ni", "2Words" and "Dejavu" followed in February, April and July respectively.
On October 13, the group released their first CD single "Kawariyuku Mono Kawaranai Mono". The song was used as theme for the animation movie Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu.
On December 15, the group will release their first studio album D'PARTURE.
