I cannot articulate how much I LOVE this story. It's so well thought out and amazing and the claustraphobic sense of loneliness that you get in really good post-apocalyptic stories. *is such a post-apocalyptic whore* I'm going to be making up words to encompass how much I ADORE this before much longer ...

Oh, that is so cool. In my Epic AU fic was originally much darker, and Ma-Ti would routinely notice when children were born around the world and could sense roving bands of humans hiding from Insano's Death-Bots.
I more or less stole that from your fic, and twisted it to your own ends, I admit. I kinda feel bad about making him a bit of a spoiled brat at the beginning here, but to be fair, if you'd suddenly find out after a lifetime of "What kind of power is Heart, anyway?" that actually, it's a power that comes in very handy after the zombie apocalypse, wouldn't you get a bit smug about it? The boy has a right, really.

And I nearly didn't think of it, is the sad thing! The scene was practically begging for that joke, and I had to go back and rewrite it to put it in because it hadn't occurred to me until after. *facepalm*

I'm not familiar with that. Is it a movie, a book? It's this amazing book by Cormac McCarthy, and soon it'll be a movie starring Viggo Mortensen. (Aka Aragorn, aka Hotness Incarnate.) Won the Pulitzer Prize. VERY disturbing and VERY good. Post-Apocalyptic story about a father and son making their way south, to the ocean, and avoiding all these cannibalistic gangs. It's ... amazing, and disturbing, and I have to keep stopping for a while to recover.
