"Odd" as in "assorted", not as in strange; not mostly anyway. It's late, I'm tired, blah blah.
The good- got to California (cheap tickets- yay!) and got to help Uncle and visit Cousin.
The bad- still have a bucketload of crud to do here, and not enough bookshelves
The ugly- my wallet was lost or stolen in California. I think lost because no one tried to use my plastic. I think stolen because it didn't turn up under the sofa cushion or car seat, and with two cars and an efficiency unit to search, it didn't take long to establish it wasn't in any of those places.
The upside is I had no cash in it and I've already replaced most of what was in it. The downside is the local Enterprise gave me such a hard time about trying to rent with a temporary debit card and no credit card that I fully intend never to rent from Enterprise again.
On to other randomness...
The rabbit lived and is safely home (thanks Keith!). He seems to like his expanded cage arrangement, and I like not worrying about him chewing wires.
My nerves are stretched from driving under ice-coated trees. I swerved to avoid one and neary sideswiped a van.... care to join me in a cup of tonic?
My digital camera is broken; no idea why, but it was on its last legs to begin with, so I can only assume the flight didn't agree with it. I'll save that one for NEXT year's Christmas list.
My daughter and I went to see Golden Compass (first time for her, second for me), and afterwards, having read the book, she filled me in on the differences. I also happened on a copy of the anthology at Sam's Club and read a few pages. Hooboy, does it look to me like the screenwriters butchered a good story in the name of making it fit the big screen! I might have to read the book before the butchery continues, just for the adrenaline rush that comes with resisting the urge to throw popcorn; maybe I'll just wait for Prince Caspian to come out instead.
And, finally, the insomnia continues... Between one thing and another, it's a wonder I ever sleep at all!
I think I'll be my own mother and send me to bed- I have to go to NYC tomorrow!
if a tree falls in the woods and no one,
does it still make a mess?
