Ridiculous
I recently read a facebook note written by a friend of mine about National Prayer day on May 3rd. Apparently, the Christians are going to pray for the well-being of this country (i.e. "sit there with their thumbs up their asses"), the Atheists are going to go donate blood. Apparently we should stop joining "useless groups about the Virginia Tech shooting" and do something helpful.
So the note asks: what will you be doing on May 3rd?
For God's sake, people. Is this really a contest? Aren't our intentions the same? I don't know what I will be doing on May 3rd (maybe nothing at all), but it offends and infuriates me to hear someone condescend to others who choose to deal with tragedy in their own way.
I don't care what you do. Pray. Give blood. Believe whatever you want to believe. Just fucking get along.
